Mary Alice was born on December 22nd, 1922 in Coffee Co., AL.1 Mary Alice's father was John MacDonald Rushing and her mother was Missouri Ann Cook. Her paternal grandparents were Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and Sarah Jane Amerson; her maternal grandparents were John F. Cook and Ann Miller. She had four brothers and three sisters, named George W., Edlow, Alto P., Alvie Roscoe, Lillie Mae, Sarah Ann and Onvie Marion. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Ronald Hubbard, Grover Cleveland, Rufus Sanders, Cecil Walter, Mamie Eudora, Claudie Bell and Pearlie.-
