Rufus Sanders was born on January 14th, 1897 in Coffee Co., AL.1 Rufus Sanders' father was John MacDonald Rushing and his mother was Eudora A. Simpler. His paternal grandparents were Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and Sarah Jane Amerson. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Ronald Hubbard, Grover Cleveland, Cecil Walter, Mamie Eudora, Claudie Bell and Pearlie. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named George W., Edlow, Alto P., Alvie Roscoe, Lillie Mae, Sarah Ann, Mary Alice and Onvie Marion. He died at the age of 80 on February 15th, 1977 in Crenshaw Co., AL. He was buried in Emmaus Cemetery, Luverne, Crenshaw Co., AL 36049.1 1 -
