James, Jr. Smart 
James, Jr. was born in 1745 in ?.1 James, Jr.'s father was James Smart and his mother was Elizabeth Ledbetter. His maternal grandparents were John Ledbetter and Frances Tedstall. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Nathan, Sr., Rueben, Henry, Rebecca, Sylvania and Chloe. He died at the age of 73 on March 31st, 1818 in SC.1 General Notes

James Jr received land grants of more than 1600 acres during his life.
James Jr & Piety are buried on his plantation near his church. James
served in the Revoluntionary War from Beaufort District, SC. 1755 James
moved form VA to Butte Co, NC then to Lynches Creek. James and Piety were
cousins. 1781-1782 James was a LT in SC Militia. James filed claims for
land in SC,#'s 5,31,65,66. James, Jr was pastor of the church founded by
his father.
