Ron, Thank you so much for responding.  We have a conflict on Macks
Elizabeth, perhaps we can figure it out.  You have Elizabeth daughter of
mack marrying J W Matthews in 1878 in Coffee County. My Grandpa's brother
was Benjamin David Nelson born November 8, 1867.  Benjamin David Married
Elizabeth "Polly" Rushing about 1889.  They had 11 children the oldest
was Tobe born 1887, the others were Leonard, Minnie, Burrell, Mathew M,
Ernest, Edlow, Dellie, Lelia, Lena, Maude.  I know that our  Mathew Mack
Rushing was in the 33rd Alabama with my great grandpa G W Nelson and some
of his cousins.  I know that Mack lost an arm during the war.  I know
that Mack's wife was Sarah Amerson.  Elizabeth's daughter-in-law just
died this month.  Her name was Lillian Lassiter Nelson, she was 93 years
old.  She knew Elizabeth "Polly" well Elizabeth "Polly" died June 28,
1938.  Mack was definitely her father.  Elizabeth is burried beside her
husband Benjamin D Nelson at Antioch Cemetery near Zoar .  The grave is
well marked.  Let me know what you think.  Wayne Nelson  P.S. If this is

I just finished talking to the nephew of Benjamin Nelson who married
Elizabeth.  His name is Coadie Nelson, his dad was the brother of
Benjamin.  He knew Elizabeth "Polly" who was the daughter of Mathew Mack
Rushing. He said also that his dad who was Elwood Nelson grew up with and
knew Perry Rushing.  Coadie said that he knew some of the Rushings
personally.  They were Joseph, Thomas, John, William , Mathew, and
David.  Coadie is 83 years old.  I think I mentioned before about Lilliam
Lassiter Nelson who married Benjamin Nelsons son Edlow.  She was 93 years
old and died only a couple of weeks ago.  She talked about Elizabeth just
a few days before she died.  I am very interested in what you think about
all this.  Please let me know what you think.  If you live near the
Antioch Memorial Cemetery at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church, our
Elizabeth had a gravestone there beside her husband Benjamin Nelson.
Ben's has several brothers and his dad are buried in that cemetery.

Thanks for everything Ron, I have had time to look through all the
information that you sent to me.  I knew all along that the Rushing
family was very interesting, but after reading all that you sent I am
even more impressed.  I noticed that you have military experience.  I had
guessed so even before I ran across your part of the family.  I am also a
veteran.  I served about 40 years in some form or other Air Force, and
Army.   active, reserve and national guard.  I retired about one year ago
as an Ordnance Warrant Army.  If you decide to go to Antioch you will
find Elizabeth there beside Benjamin.  Just in case you havent been there
before I will give you directions.  The directions are north from Elba.
North of Elba about 10 miles toward Brantley on Hwy 189, exit right on
coffee 330.  330 will dead end into Coffee 306.  Turn left onto 306 after
about 5 or 6 miles you will come upon a severe curve about 90 degree
right, just beyound the curve is Antioch Church and Cemetery.  The church
was established about 1867.  When you park you will notice several Nelson
head stones.  James Nelson and his wife Francis.  Mannie Nelson and his
wife.  Benjamin and Elizabeth have a headstone that rolls near the top.
Their names are difficult to see unless you look near the top of the
stone.  The stone has been painted and had faded and chipped.  Also there
