In 1891, Samuel was lodging with John Greenhalgh and family at 28 Shaw Street. Also there were son John (14) and daughter Hannah (11).
In 1899, brother Thomas a beer seller of 36 Rothwell Street died, and in 1901 Samuel was the adminiostrator.
After John died, Samuel took over the busines of being a beerseller. He was 59 and married and an employer in 1911, and his son John a brewer. Brother Robert was living with him at 32 Rothwell Street (Bolton), an assistant brewer.
