Jane was born in June 1850 in Turton and her baptism took place on June 16th, 1850 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Jane's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Mary Helm.  Her paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Martha (Matty) Ramsden. She had two sisters named Ellen and Ann.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named James, Solomon, Joseph, Richard, William, Ellen and Martha.  She died at the age of 84 in October 1934 in Blackpool.3

‌Jane and David were married in a religious ceremony on January 25th, 1871 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge).4   They had three sons and six daughters, named Alfred, John, Joseph, Annie, Mary, Ada, Alice, Bertha and Ethel.  There are no more children.  John and Joseph were twins.
