Martha Mather

Martha was born in March 1842 in Turton and her baptism took place on April 17th, 1842 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

Martha's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Sarah Rostron. Her paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Martha (Matty) Ramsden. She had five brothers and a sister, named James, Solomon, Joseph, Richard, William and Ellen. She was the youngest of the seven children. She had three half-sisters named Ellen, Ann and Jane. She died in 1842 in Turton.³

General Notes
- There are two Martha Mather births registered with MMN as Rostron (Q3-1841 and Q1-1841). They are less than 9 months appart, so are of different mothers. The other Martha is the daughter of Richard and Mary Mather (nee Rosthorn) who married the same year.
