James Mather

James was born in 1831 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on January 5th, 1831 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

James' father was Joseph Mather and his mother was Sarah Rostron. His paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Martha (Matty) Ramsden. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Solomon, Joseph, Richard, William, Ellen and Martha. He was the oldest of the seven children. He had three half-sisters named Ellen, Ann and Jane. He died at the age of 28 on March 12th, 1859 in Bolton. His burial was in March 1859 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge).³

Also Ann wife of the above who departed this life Jan. 1st 1913 aged 84 years. Also Betty HORROBIN mother of the above who departed this life Jan. 4th 1875 aged 84 years.
