James Mather

James was born in 1821 in Harwood and his baptism took place on June 17th, 1821 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

James' father was Richard Mather and his mother was Hannah Knowles. His paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Ann Howarth; his maternal grandparents were John Knowles and Jane Thomason. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Nathan, William, Robert, Richard, John, Henry, Peter, Rachel, Catherine and Ann. He had an adopted brother named Thomas. He died at the age of 68 on December 28th, 1889 in Little Bolton.³
