Henry Mather

Henry was born in July 1797 in Haslingden and his baptism took place there on July 24th, 1796.¹²

Henry's father was William Mather and his mother was Margaret (Peggy) Ashworth. His paternal grandparents were Abraham Mather and Anne Barns. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, John, Abraham, Betty, Anne and Nancy. He was the youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 45 in April 1843 in Turton. His burial was on April 16th, 1843 at Christ Church, Walmsley.³⁴

General Notes
- Henry was from Haslingden and may have lived in Manchester which is where he probably married Mary and is where son WIlliam was born.
  
  In 1832, Henry and Mary had a son Charles baptisd at Walmsley, Turton, abode "Top of the Lane". Charles died in 1834, aged 1yr, 11mo abode "Morton Row, Turton".
  
  In 1841, Henry and Mary (both 40) were at Bedford Row, Egerton, Turton with with James (15), William (14), Henry (12) and Caroline (5).
  
  WARNING: in 1841, there ia also Henry, a Dyer, and Mary (both 40) at Reicmond Street, Regent Road, Salford.
  
  They appear to be a family, but no Bolton marriage exists so probably married at Prestwich on 23 May 1824.
