James Mather

James was born in 1825 in Manchester.¹

Birth Notes
- 15 (rounded) in 1841, but probably two years younger than William.
  
  James was probably born Manchester which is where closest brother William was born.

James' father was Henry Mather and his mother was Mary Chadwick. His paternal grandparents were William Mather and Margaret (Peggy) Ashworth. He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Henry, Charles and Caroline. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 23 in 1848 in Tottington.²

- In 1841, both James Mather and Elizabeth Stevens families were living at Bedford Row, Egerton.
  
  27 April 1845, James Mather, spinner of Egerton, son of Henry Mather, a Dyer married Elizabeth Stevens, daughter of Joseph Stevens at St. Peter, Bolton
  
  By 1851, James hed died. The only death registered is at Tottington, North Bury in 1848. By 1851, Elizabeth was back with her mother at Turton Row.
