Margaret (Peggy) Ashworth

Margaret, known as Peggy, was born in 1755 in Haslingden and her baptism took place there on May 9th, 1755.¹

- Margaet was the daughter of Elizabeth Ashworth, a spinster of Cribben-side, Haslingden and Samuel Whitley, a Mason of Saddleworth.
  
  In 1756, Margaret married William Mather with the consent of parents, so under age However, they had no children baptised and it appears William left her.
  
  Margared Ashworth (not Mather) was buried in Haslingden in 1831, aged 77.
