Holt is a possible son of William Mather and Betty Holt.

1828-1837: Holt and Alice were living in Egerton when Thomas and Mary were born.
About 1838 Holt and Alice moved to Leigh where Ellen was baptised, and than back to Walmsey, Turton whee Maria was baptised in 1845
In 1841, Holt and Alice (both 34) were at the Old Globe, (Egerton), Bolton with 5 children: Thomas (13), Mary (11), Rosanne (9), Sevine (7), Ellen (5). 28 Mar 1847, Holt Mather was a wtness to the marriage of John Heywood (labourer of Sharples) and Ellen Hamer (Widow of Sharples, dau of Joseph Lever).
In 1851, Holt and Alice (42 & 43) were at 33 Barry Row, Egerton, Turton with son Thomas and his wife Mary Ann (22 & 20) and five daughters; Mary, Rossania, Ellen, Alice and Maria (20, 17, 13, 8 & 6)
"Holt Mather" is shown as the father on Thomas's marriage of 1850. However, Holt may have used another name as there in no death registered fot Holt, and no other records after 1851.
In 1851, the family may have moved to Staffordshire, Mary, daughterr of Holt married Thomas Vickers there.
