Sevina's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Mary Ann Beswick. Her paternal grandparents were Holt Mather and Alice Vickers. She had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, Ann, Jane, Alice and Louisa. She was the oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Robert.

- In 1851, "Sevina" Mather, 3 months, (named after her aunt) and her parents Holt Thomas and MaryAnn Mather (22 & 20) were living with her grandparents Holt and Alice at Barry Row, Turton..
  
  Sevinia (or Lavina) is missing from the 1861 census. There is no Lancashire death record for Lavinia, Levinia or Sevinia.
  
  In Q4/1881, Lavinia Mather married James Partington at Radcliffe, Bury. Lavinia Partington died at Haywood in 1940, aged 76 (so born 1863). This is another Levinia, born Bury.
