John Holt Mather

John was born in 1861 in Halliwell.¹

John's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Mary Ann Beswick. His paternal grandparents were Holt Mather and Alice Vickers. He had a brother and five sisters, named Thomas, Sevina, Ann, Jane, Alice and Louisa. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Robert. He died at the age of 67 in November 1928 in Turton. His burial was on November 15th, 1928.²³

- John Holt Mather, son of Thomas married Alice Ada Syddall 28 Jan 1888 at St. Paul, Halliwell.
  
  In 1911 John Holt Mather and Alice Ade were at 89 Tonge Moor Road, Tonge. John had finished with the cotton mill and become a Tram Car Cleaner worrking for the council (Municipal).
  
  May have died in 1943, aged 82, but was missing from 1839 register.
