Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in August 1828 at Egerton and his baptism took place on August 31st, 1828 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

Thomas' father was Holt Mather and his mother was Alice Vickers. His paternal grandparents were William Mather and Betty Holt. He had seven sisters named Mary, Rosannah, Lavinia, Ellen, Jane, Alice and Maria. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 72 in July 1901 in Walmsley. His burial was on July 23rd, 1901 at Christ Church, Walmsley.³³

  23 Feb 1873, Thomas Mather, widowed, a coton spinner, son of Holt Mather married Ann Pendlebury (nee Willcock, daughter of George Willcock).
  
  In 1881 Thomas and Ann (50 & 52) are at 120 Mount Street, Little Bolton with John (19) and Alice Ann (17) and grandson Robert (aged 3).
  
  In 1901 Thomas was a lamp lighter at Belmont, living with his daughter Alice and son-in-law Joseph Hill. Belmont is 2.5 miles West of Egerton and Walmsey
  
  Thomas of Belmont died in July 1901, aged 72, and is buried at Walmsey Christ Church
