Ann Crook Mather

Ann was born in June 1865 in Eagley and her baptism took place on June 18th, 1880 in Millbrook.¹²

Ann's father was Charles Mather and her mother was Betty Crook. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Mather and Betty (Elizabeth) Cooper; her maternal grandparents were Daniel (Dan) Crook and Mary Walsh. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Daniel, Charles, Maria, Alice, Jane, Sarah and Betsy. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 66 on December 3rd, 1931 in Ashton-under-Lyne. Her burial was in December 1931 at Egerton.³⁴

- In 1880, Ann was baptised at Millbrook St James, Cheshire. She was about 15 years old.
  
  In 1881, Ann Mather (16, niece), born Turton, Lancashire was with her uncle and aunt Georeg and Ann Kay. Her father Charles was a Railway Points Man at Droylsden and mother Betty had died in 1877.
  
  NOTE: It is not likely for Ann to be a niece of George Kay and Ann Rhodes. She must be a niece or great niece of George's mother Nancy Kay nee Mather.
  
  In 1901, Ann (23) was living with her older sister Mary (43) and brother Joseph (42) at Droylsden, Lancashire.
  
  In 1902, Ann Crooke Mather married John Horrocks Bentley (1871-1929), a farmer. They had no children.
