Alice's father was Charles Mather and her mother was Betty Crook. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Mather and Betty (Elizabeth) Cooper; her maternal grandparents were Daniel (Dan) Crook and Mary Walsh. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Daniel, Charles, Maria, Ann, Jane, Sarah and Betsy. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 30 on February 12th, 1891 at Egerton.²
