Mary (Maria) Mather

Mary, known as Maria, was born in June 1857 in Turton.¹

Maria's father was Charles Mather and her mother was Betty Crook. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Mather and Betty (Elizabeth) Cooper; her maternal grandparents were Daniel (Dan) Crook and Mary Walsh. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Daniel, Charles, Alice, Ann, Jane, Sarah and Betsy. She was the oldest of the nine children.
