John Longworth

John was born in 1833 in Entwistle and his baptism took place on March 3rd, 1833 at St. Anne (Turton).¹²

John's father was Robert Longworth and his mother was Catherine Mather. His maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William, Daniel, John, Robert, Jane, Nancy, Sarah, Catherine and Alice. He had two half-sisters named Betty and Betty.

General Notes
- There's somthing mixed up about John's family. Alice is missing her birth registration, and in 1862 there is a birth registered for Nancy who later appears as part of brother Wiliam's family.
  
  In 1851, John (16) was with his father in Horwich.
  
  Daughter Alice L Wright was registered in 1857, before John married Mary Ann Wright on 5 Sep 1857 at Horwich Chapel.
  
  In 1861, John and Mary Ann (28 & 22) were at Horwich with two daughters; Alice (3) and Elizabeth Ann (1).
  
  In 1871, Mary Ann Longworth (32) and her four daughters were visiting her parents Owen and Ellenor Wright at Horwich. John (38, Married, a Calco Printer finisher) was lodging in Levenshulme with Nathaniel and Margery Bradshaw.
