Catherine's father was Robert Longworth and her mother was Catherine Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had five brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Daniel, John, Robert, Jane, Nancy, Sarah and Alice. She had two half-sisters named Betty and Betty.
