William was born in January 1844 in Ilkley and his baptism took place on February 25th, 1844 in Shipley conducted by Vicar John Snowdon.¹²

Birth Notes

William's father was David Lister and his mother was Ann Elizabeth Smith. His paternal grandparents were Richard Lister and Hannah Robinson; his maternal grandparents were William Smith and Jenny (Jane) Hudson. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Henry, Richard, Thomas, Richard, Joseph, George, Ann, Harriet, Annie, Margaret and Mary. Richard and William were twins. He died at the age of 87 on September 30th, 1931 in Ilkley.³
