Thomas was born in December 1870 in Little Bolton.¹

Birth Notes

Thomas' father was Robert Leatherbarrow and his mother was Ellen Mather. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Ellen Warburton. He had ten brothers and six sisters, named James, John, Walter, William, Robert, Albert, Robert, George, George, Walter, Alice, Sarah, Alice, Sarah, Mary and Ada. He was the eighth youngest of the seventeen children. He died at the age of 60 in 1930.
