Annie's father was Thomas Holland and her mother was Martha Brereton. Her maternal grandparents were Edward Brereton and Frances Hopley. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Frank, Edward, George, James, Ellen, May and Mary. She was the youngest of the nine children.
