James Brooks

James was born in September 1874 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on September 20th, 1874 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

James' father was Charles Brooks and his mother was Ann Price. His paternal grandparents were James Brooks and Alice Mather. He had six brothers named Joseph, John, Charles, George, William and Robert. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas, Samuel, Ernest and Mary. He died at the age of 41 in 1915 in Halliwell.¹

- The Brooks family history (PDF) says that James was a sickly person, never married, never worked. Just took care of the house in Harvest Street, Bolton.
  
  WARNING: There is another James Brooks born 06 Aug 1875 who had a borther George. There are two census records for 1911

  In 1891, James was 16 with Charles new step-mother Marilda. The other James was married to Catherine and also had a brother George of similar age with them).
