Ernest was born in September 1896 in Little Bolton.¹

Birth Notes

Ernest's father was Charles Brooks and his mother was Matilda Ainsworth. His paternal grandparents were James Brooks and Alice Mather. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Samuel and Mary. He was the youngest of the four children. He had seven half-brothers named Joseph, James, John, Charles, George, William and Robert. He died at the age of 50 in March 1947 in Amounderness.²
