Albert Rushing 
Albert was born on July 25th, 1900 in Pike Co., AL.1 Albert's father was Joseph Johnston Rushing and his mother was Ella Melissa Spradley. His paternal grandparents were John Eager Howard Rushing and Eliza Jane Jenerett; his maternal grandparents were Stephen Anderson Spradley and Avarilla Cathrine Castellaw. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George Dewey, J. C., Duard Moody, Mary Kate and Foye. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 45 on May 1st, 1946 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., AL. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, Pike Co., AL.1 1 General Notes

When Albert was a fireman for the city of Troy, AL, his wife Gladys and
his sister Foye would hear the Troy Fire Department's sirens sound off
and they would follow the fire trucks to watch the men put out the fire.
On April 14, 1996, Foy Rushing Black said that Albert had a job at Gunter
Field AFB. Foye Rushing informed me that Albert died of a serious liver
disease in the St. Margaret’s Hospital, Montgomery, AL.
RUSHING, Albert, 45, a resident of Montgomery for six years, died at a
local hospital at 1 p. m. Wednesday following an extended illness.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Gladys Harris Rushing; parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. J. Rushing, Montgomery; two sisters, Mrs. Veron Ivey and Mrs. S.
Earl Sellers, both of Montgomery; one brother Duard M. Rushing,
Apalachicola, Fla. The funeral was held from McGhee Funeral Home at Troy,
Ala., today at 3 p. m. with the Rev. Sam Jones officiating. Burial was
in local cemetery at Troy. Active pallbearers were firemen for Gunter
Field Fire Department. Alabama Journal, 2 May 1946.

On 8 Sep 1999, Foye Black, Albert's sister, told me that Albert met
Gladys in Riddlewood, AL. Albert and Gladys knew each other only two
