Mary Spradley seems to have married for the second time at Camden
(Kershaw Co.) SC on 9 Oct 1813 to Samuel Bradley.
Purchasers: Mary Spradley, John Spradley, George Gay, Francis Robinson,
Gideon Seymor, Jacob Shiver, Caleb Berry, Samuel Nettles, Joseph Payne.
Later, by Sept 29, 1813, she married Solomon Bradley.
"During 1830's, Samuel and Mary Bradley, her sons Bryant and Warren C.
Spradley, her daughter Anna Lou (Mrs. John C. Martin), and Allen Bradley
(probable son of Samuel and Mary Bradley) migrated from South Carolina
into the Montgomery, Lowndes, and Butler County areas of central Alabama
along with members of the Summerlin family, who had been close neighbors
back in South Carolina. In the 1840 Montgomery Co., AL census, Bryan and
Warren Spradley appear near Simon Russell, Evan and Smith 'Sumberlin,'
Samuel, Durham, and Allen Bradley, and John Malone, Sr. and Jr. (surely
relatives of Warren's wife Elsie Malone)." (1)
(1) Montgomery Genealogy Society Quarterly, Summer 1994, page 81.
Mary married Samuel Bradley Oct. 9, 1813 in Camden, SC. They had Allen
Bradley (& others?)
In 1860 Census for Montgomery Co., AL Samuel Bradley was listed as age 65
b. SC and Mary was listed as age 80 b. SC. Next family was their son and
his family: Allen Bradley age 36 b. SC and wife, Mary A. Bradley age 32
b. NC. with 7 children all born in AL.
It is not certain that Mary's maiden name was Manning. However, they
named a child Manning and this name was repeated through the generations
but the other brothers of James Spradley did not name any children
Manning.
