Duard Moody Rushing 
Duard Moody was born on August 14th, 1905 in Pike Co., AL.1 Duard Moody's father was Joseph Johnston Rushing and his mother was Ella Melissa Spradley. His paternal grandparents were John Eager Howard Rushing and Eliza Jane Jenerett; his maternal grandparents were Stephen Anderson Spradley and Avarilla Cathrine Castellaw. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George Dewey, Albert, J. C., Mary Kate and Foye. He was the third youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 43 on March 5th, 1949 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., AL. He was buried on March 6th, 1949 in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, Pike Co., AL.1 1 General Notes

The following article appeared in the Montgomery Advertiser, 6 March 1949.
Duard M. (Hop) Rushing, age 44, resident of Montgomery, formerly of
Samson, Alabama died today. He is survived by the widow, Sarah Holley;
two daughters, Barbara Ann and Sarah Gail Rushing, and one son, Joseph H.
Rushing. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Rushing; two sisters, Mrs. S. E.
Sellers and Mrs. Veron Ivey.

DUARD MOODY RUSHING DIES AT HOSPITAL HERE
Duard Moody Rushing 44, of Troy, Ala., died here yesterday at the
Tuberculosis Sanatorium following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held today at 4:30 p. m. from McGhee Funeral
Home in Troy, with the Rev. R. T. McLeod officiating. Burial will follow
in Troy Oakwood Cemetery.
Services include the widow, Sara Francis Rushing, Troy; two
daughters, Barbara Ann and Sarah Gale Rushing; a son Joe Holley Rushing,
all of Troy; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Rushing, Montgomery,
and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon Ivey, and Mrs. Earl Sellers, both of
Montgomery. Montgomery Advertiser, 6 March 1949.
Foye Rushing Black informed me that Hop died of TB in a hospital for TB
patients, located on Fairgrounds Road in Montgomery, AL.
Duard M. (Hop) Rushing is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Pike County. His
grave marker reads: Duard M. (Hop) Rushing
