Autauga County
Know all men by these Presents That I, Jonas Jourdan of the state
and county aforesaid, for divers good causes done by my son Reuben
Jourdan of Montgomery County of state aforesaid, do give and bequeath
unto said Reuben Jourdan in trust all my property real and personal
(to-wit): Patty a negro woman about 45 years old, Julia a small wench
about 35 years old, Mary a girl about 8 years old and Mina about 4 years
old and Cato about 2 years old, 2 mares and colts, all my stock of cattle
and hogs, all my household and kitchen furniture, plantation tools and
every other kind of property I have a title to of any kind whatever,
Bonds, notes and accounts in trust for the use and purposes hereinafter
mentioned (to-wit) I am to be decently maintained my lifetime out of the
said property. My son, Thomas Jourdan is to be sent to school one year
besides the present one that he is going to Mr. McCrary. My son,
Archelaus Elmore Jourdan is to be sent two years to school from the
present time, my said trustee is to make all contracts for the benefit of
said propertuy in trust for the use and purposes before mentioned, he my
said trustee to have fair compensation for the trouble he is at in
managing the said property and at my decease the remainder to be equally
divided between all my children (to-wit) my son, Reuben Jourdan, my
daughter, Frances Dillard, my son Felix Jourdan, my daughter Martha
Burns, my daughter Mary Wilson, my son Thomas Jourdan and my son Archelus
Elmore Jourdan, share and share about. I hereby warrant and forever
defend the said property unto the said Reuben Jourdan in trust for the
use before mentioned, etc- - - - -
