Lawson Pettus was born on February 12th, 1875 in Near Little Mountain, Newberry County, South Carolina.1 Lawson Pettus' father was Middleton Boland and his mother was Anna Barbara Frick. His paternal grandparents were Abram Boland and Eva Christina Sease. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named David, Abraham Noah, Levi Calhoun, Edward Jonah, Ira Coens, Rachel Happy, Louise Alice, Ellen M., Frances Victoria, Emma, Mary Catherine and Corrie Ada. He was the second youngest of the thirteen children. He had a half-sister named Lula Beatress. He died in Cleveland, North Carolina.1 -
