Ira Coens was born on March 9th, 1877 in Near Little Mountain, Newberry County, South Carolina.1 Ira Coens' father was Middleton Boland and his mother was Anna Barbara Frick. His paternal grandparents were Abram Boland and Eva Christina Sease. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named David, Abraham Noah, Levi Calhoun, Edward Jonah, Lawson Pettus, Rachel Happy, Louise Alice, Ellen M., Frances Victoria, Emma, Mary Catherine and Corrie Ada. He was the youngest of the thirteen children. He had a half-sister named Lula Beatress. He died at the age of 70 on November 17th, 1947 in Clinton, Laurens County, South Carolina. He was buried in Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton, South Carolina.1 1 -
