No father is shown on the baptism. 1829 - 1899 Ann Nightingale 70 70 Ann left home in 1949 to marry Samuel Mather, so was not on the family census of 1851.  However, Samuel and Ann cannot be found on the 1851 census.

Samuel and Ann had Mary Nightingale living with them in 1861 as a servant. 1796 - 1868 Peggy (Margaret) Riding 72 72 Margared was recorded as Peggy, a common name for Margaret, on the marriage record, and on the christening records for Robert and Mary. 1818 - 1872 Joseph Nightingale 54 54 Joseph had left the family home by 1851. 1821 - 1899 Mary Nightingale 78 78 Mary lived with her parents William and Margaret untill she was over 40. 1824 John Nightingale John lived with her parents William and Margaret untill he was over 37. 1827 Ellen Nightingale Ellen had left home by 1851 (although they had a granddaughter Ellen with them in 1851 and 1861). 1833 - >1885 Eliza Nightingale 52 52 In 1885, Eliza Withnell was 52 and in North Dakota, USA with her extended family.  William (20 and single); James & Nancy (28 & 27); Edward and Ann (25 & 24) and four grandchildren. ~1836 - 1909 Alice Nightingale 72 72 1843 Ellen Nightingale Ellen was a grand daughter of William and Margaret, living with them in 1851 and 1861.  Possibly an illegitimate daughter of their daughter Mary (or Ellen). 1823 - 1856 Margaret Ridings 33 33 Margaret died young at the age of 33 and the family was split up.  The children went to different relatives or into service.

NOTE:  I have no proof that Andrew is Joseph's Son as he was born after the 1851 census, but it seems likely as he was with brother David and grandparents in 1861. 1793 - 1861 William Nightingale 67 67 William probably had a brother Miles, who was a neighbour in 1841 and 1851.  Miles was a Finisher.
