Ann was born on August 9th, 1791 in Blackrod and her christening took place on September 4th, 1791 at St. Katherine (B'rod).1  Ann's father was Humphrey Nightingale and her mother was Mary Hart.  Her paternal grandparents were Humphrey Nightingale and Alice Nightingale. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, Robert and Susanna.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
