John was born in October 1814 in Saddleworth and his baptism took place there on November 6th, 1814.1  John's father was Noah Schofield and his mother was Mary Lees. He had four brothers and five sisters, named James, Charles, Wright, Joseph, Ann, Julia, Mary, Harriet and Eliza.  He was the second oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 75 on March 20th, 1890 in Saddleworth.2 



John's family with Ann (Sarah) Sandiford

‌John and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on January 13th, 1845 in Rochdale.3  They had four sons and three daughters, named John, Charles, Joseph, James, Sarah, Maria and Mary.  There are no more children.
