Charles was born in 1823 in Rochdale and his baptism took place on February 3rd, 1823 in Saddleworth.1  Charles' father was Noah Schofield and his mother was Mary Lees. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, James, Wright, Joseph, Ann, Julia, Mary, Harriet and Eliza.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 25 in February 1848 in Saddleworth.  He was buried on February 10th, 1848 in Saddleworth.
