Wright's father was Noah Schofield and his mother was Mary Lees. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, James, Charles, Joseph, Ann, Julia, Mary, Harriet and Eliza.  He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 70 in September 1895 in Ashton-under-Lyne.³
