Julia was born in 1817 in Saddleworth and her baptism took place there on June 22nd, 1817.1  Julia's father was Noah Schofield and her mother was Mary Lees. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Charles, Wright, Joseph, Ann, Mary, Harriet and Eliza.  She was the third oldest of the ten children.
