Harriet's father was Noah Schofield and her mother was Mary Lees. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Charles, Wright, Joseph, Ann, Julia, Mary and Eliza.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 83 in September 1916 in Saddleworth.²
