Edward was born in 1825 at DickStiles and his christening took place on August 21st, 1825 at St. Bartholomew's (Colne).1 2  Edward's father was Thomas Pickles and his mother was Mary Roberts.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Pickles and Mary Walsh; his maternal grandparents were James Roberts and Lucy Coulthurst. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Robert, Dinley, Margaret, Mary, Sarah, Sarah, Alice and Caroline.  He was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 22 in September 1847 in Marlow (aka Marley).  He was buried on September 30th, 1847 at All Saints (Bingley).3 4
