Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in March 1798 in Billinge and his baptism took place on March 4th, 1798 at St. Aidan (Billinge).¹

Thomas' father was John Mather and his mother was Betty Houghton.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Elin (Ellen) Shaw. He had five brothers and five sisters, named John, John, Peter, James, William, Ann, Margaret, Hannah, Elizabeth and Alice.  He was the second oldest of the eleven known children.

‌Thomas and Rebecca were married in a religious ceremony on January 12th, 1818 at All Saints (Wigan).¹   They had two sons and four daughters, named John, Thomas, Mary, Alice, Margaret and Ann.  There are no more children.
