Thomas was born in 1832 in Billinge and his baptism took place on May 30th, 1832 at St. Aidan (Billinge).¹

Birth Notes

Thomas' father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Rebecca Atherton. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Houghton. He had a brother and four sisters, named John, Mary, Alice, Margaret and Ann. He was the third youngest of the six children.
