Mary was born in 1822 in Billinge and her baptism took place on January 27th, 1822 at St. Aidan (Billinge).¹

Birth Notes

Mary's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Rebecca Atherton. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Houghton. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Alice, Margaret and Ann. She was the second oldest of the six children.
