Alice was born in April 1824 in Billinge and her baptism took place on April 11th, 1824 at St. Aidan (Billinge).¹

Birth Notes

Alice's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Rebecca Atherton. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Houghton. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Mary, Margaret and Ann. She was the third oldest of the six children.
