Margaret was born in 1835 in Billinge and her baptism took place on September 8th, 1835 at St. Aidan (Billinge).¹

Birth Notes

Margaret's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Rebecca Atherton. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Houghton. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Mary, Alice and Ann. She was the second youngest of the six children.
