Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in 1805 in Quarlton and his baptism took place on March 27th, 1805 at Turton Chapel.¹

Thomas' father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Alice Entwistle. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Charles, John, Edward, James, Richard, Mary and Ann. He was the youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 56 in January 1861 in Turton. His burial was on January 8th, 1861 at St. Anne (Turton).²³

- Hannah was a widow, aged 52 in 1861 living in Turton with several of her children and grandchildren with her.

General Notes
- Thomas cut it fine getting married 6 April 1828. Thier first baby Alice was born 19 May, the following month.
  
  From 1828, Thomas lived at Turton Bottoms. Records show Alice and Ann were born there).
  
  In 1841, Thomas (30), a block printer like his father and Hannah (also 30) were at Bottoms, Edgworth. They had their children baptised at Edgworth Independent. They had 4 surviving children Alice, Ann, Amos and Jane (13, 9, 6, 3).
  
  In 1851 Thomas & Hannah (both 42) where at the Old Globe Buildings, Turton. Thomas, born Quarlton was a Gas Maker. They had 8 children: Alice, Ann, Amos, Jane and Thomas, Charles, John, Hannah (22, 18, 16, 12, 10, 6, 3, 9mo).
  
  Thomas died Q1/1861, before the census, aged 52

- From 1841 Thomas' occupation was Block Printer in Edgworth. He died in 1848 while still employed there.
