John Mather

John was born in March 1848 in Edgworth and his baptism took place on March 21st, 1848 at St. Anne (Turton).¹²

  The 1851 census tells us that Alice was born in Turton, and then the following children are born in Edgworth untill 1851, when the youngest, Hannah is born in Turton again.

John's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Hannah (Ann) Kirkham. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Entwistle. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Amos, Thomas, Charles, Alice, Ann and Jane. He had an adopted sister named Hannah. He died at the age of 74 in September 1922 in Turton.³
