Richard Mather

Richard was born in 1803 in Quarlton and his baptism took place on May 22nd, 1803 at Turton Chapel.¹²

Richard's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Alice Entwistle. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Charles, John, Edward, James, Thomas, Mary and Ann. He was the eighth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 70 in 1873 in Quarlton.³

General Notes
- 2 Jan 1826, Richard Mather and Mary married the same day as William Mather & Betty Fairview. A double marriage! Also, Joseph Mather married Sarah Rosthorn later the same year.
  
  Dyer in 1826 (when John baptised), a blue dyer in 1841, a reel dyer (of cotton) in 1851, labourer at the Calico print works in 1861 and 1871.
  
  Another Richard and Mary family had Hannah (in 1826) and Ellen (b. 1828). This Richard was a Fuller.
  
  In 1841, Richard and Mary (both 35) were at Pilton Fold, Edgworth with John, Alice, Sarah, Richard and Mary (15,15,13,5 & 2)
