Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in 1835 in Adlington and his baptism took place on June 16th, 1835 in Rivington.¹

Thomas' father was Nathan Mather and his mother was Catherine Bibby. His paternal grandparents were Edward (Nedde) Mather and Mary Hough. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John, Edward, Nathan, Nathan, Edward, Richard, Mary, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann and Margaret. He had an adopted brother named Edward.

  Was Thomas a sailor at Liverpool? In 1873, When Thomas married, he was a sailor and his wife Elizabeth the daughter of a chandler. After they married, Thomas and Elizabeth lived at Ashton-under-Lyne (or is this another family?)
  
  In 1881, Thomas (41) was a finisher at the cotton factory, born Rochdale. In 1891, Thomas is a stoker at the Cotton Factory, born Ashworth Mood. This must be another Thomas and Elizabeth!
