Sarah was born on March 24th, 1833 in Bury and her baptism took place there on April 28th, 1833.1 2  Sarah's father was Robert Mather and her mother was Grace Wood.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Madther and Judith (Judy) Chadwick. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph, John, Edwin, Robert, Mary, Mary, Betty, Ann, Emma, Alice and Grace.  She was the third oldest of the twelve children.



Sarah's family with George Hayhurst

‌Sarah and George were married in a religious ceremony on April 12th, 1854 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury) witnessed by John Mather & Mary Wood.3  They had two sons and two daughters, named Herbert, Frederick, Mary and Annie.  There are possibly more children.
